Webcam is an adult streaming service, so the essence of a webcam model’s job is to constantly communicate with viewers through video broadcasts. Of course, the broadcasts are not free, the model gets paid for it.
The hostess communicates with the audience (memebers), stimulates their interest in her person and earns tips – voluntary payments from clients.
Broadcasts fall into two categories:
- Flirting – conversation with viewers without undressing, only flirting;
- Erotica – any erotic actions with undressing, usually involving fetishes or the use of sex toys.
In webcam, you don’t have to make money on nudity alone – there are always other options. Viewers come to the platform primarily for the sake of communication and forming close relationships: often they are single people who have no one to share the events of their lives with. Experienced webcams even sometimes find good friends among their colleagues and viewers.
CHATS FOR WEBCAM MODELING
Chats are online conversations on a broadcast page. There are several varieties of chats, about each we will tell in more detail below.
To orient you approximately on your earnings, we’ll write the minimum and maximum prices for services on the largest webcam site BongaCams. Inside the system, payments are made in tokens – the internal currency. We convert prices to dollars for convenience.
Free chat.
“Free” – free in translation. These are just the conversations we described above: when the model chats with any users (even unregistered ones). The main income comes from tips. There are webcam platforms that deal only with this format of work.
Private chat
Private – communication between a model and a single viewer in private. Each minute of conversation is paid for at a price of $2 to $10. In private chat there are additional functions:
- sneak peeks – connecting hidden users at a discounted price;
- cam2cam – turn on viewer’s camera, communication becomes like a video call.
- Each function is paid separately on top of the cost of the private.
Some webcams divide the private chat into regular and full: you can peep in the first one (its cost is cheaper for the client), in the second one you can’t (more expensive). For example, there is such a division on the BongaCams platform – we recently wrote a review on it.
The cost of the service on Bonga:
Private chat – $0.45 to $6.25 per minute.
Full private chat – $0.75 to $7.5 per minute.
Peek-a-boo – $0.1 to $2 per minute.
Group Chat.
Group chat is a private chat with more than one viewer connected. Models set their own restrictions on the number of viewers in the settings.
This happens as follows: the user applies for a group chat and waits until the required number of viewers is reached, for example, five. Five more people have joined – a general chat starts automatically.
Webcam can manually start chatting earlier – the remaining memebers will connect already in the process of broadcasting. Bonga service costs from $0.25 to $3.75 per minute.
Show
Shows are themed broadcasts that are accessed via virtual tickets. The model thinks through the concept of the show, describes it, sets a start time and a fixed fee for admission. Before the broadcast begins, she encourages the audience to join: this is called a pre-show, lasting up to half an hour of time.
Webcams call the show differently: some call it the Golden Show, others call it the Candy Show. Bonga does not support show formats, so there is no average price either.
WHAT DO I NEED TO WORK AS A WEBCAM MODEL?
There are several variants of developments, to begin with let’s talk about the format of the work.
To become a webcam model, you can:
1. Get a job in an offline studio.
Most often these are multi-room apartments, where each model is assigned his own room for broadcasting.
Advantages:
– Availability of the right equipment – a powerful computer, webcam, lighting;
– free training – managers register models’ accounts and teach them the basics;
– studio props – bed, decor, erotic toys (no individual ones, they are washed after each model);
– organizing photo shoots for the model’s work account.
Disadvantages:
-constant control – what time the model comes and goes;
-penalties – for absenteeism and lateness;
-Time and energy for a trip to the office and back – you’re lucky if the studio is close;
-High commissions – from 50 to 70% of earnings.
2. Find a remote studio.
A physical office is not necessary; the entire team can work remotely. Communication takes place remotely.
Advantages:
free training – allocate a personal manager, he registers accounts and is always in touch with the model;
personal account – the model’s work time, earnings from different sites are recorded;
access to private resources – instructions on the services, model interviews, internal forums;
technical support – experts advise on the selection of equipment, remotely connect to your computer and set up the necessary programs, solve technical problems;
no office – all the work is done from home;
Low commissions – about 10%.
Disadvantages:
Lack of technology – you have to buy everything yourself;
Only virtual communication – for some people a minus, for others a plus.
3.Start working for yourself.
They themselves are studying all the information on webcam, look for suitable sites and equipment, you start streaming. Pay only commission service – 50% of income. It looks simple, but the option is actually difficult.
Few models have enough motivation and independence to solve the problems that arise. There are situations when a webcam model can barely make ends meet in a few months.
Studios solve the issue of understanding – what exactly should be done to earn exactly. That is why independent work is always a story about adventurism, risks and serious responsibility. We recommend that at the beginning to work in a remote studio: to gain experience, to deal with the sites, to form a reputation with the audience.
Now that you know about the possible options, let’s talk about the technique for streaming:
- Computer – so it doesn’t slow down and pulls profile programs like OBS.
- Webcam – minimum resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.
- Lamps – we recommend buying three: two in front of your face, one behind your back.
- Cable connection to the Internet – speed of at least 15 Mbit per second.
- There is a variant of streaming from your phone, but here the quality of shooting and Wi-Fi speed are crucial. In our experience broadcasts via cable are slower, but Wi-Fi eats a part of speed.
Before you start broadcasting, study streaming platforms: see how webcam models look, how they behave and what reactions they get.
Average earnings for online hostesses are $1,000 a month for beginners and $2,000 for experienced ones. No one will force you to work in webcam: you can hold a couple of streams and analyze how close it is to you.
CONCLUSION
A web model is most often an erotic streamer. Earns money from tips from viewers and private chats. On average, earnings range from $1,000 per month. Online hostesses can work for themselves or an offline (remote) studio.
